Classic Love Stories
My team was a little starstruck when I told them I wanted to blog all about love this week. It might be that I am a little starstruck myself as I prepare to get married in a few days. I’m excited, really, and I can’t stop thinking about the several roller skating dates I have been on with my soon to be wife. I even remember when we were 15 year olds and just friends, a group of us took my parent’s car for a joy ride to Classic Fun Center while they were out of town (Sorry Dad). I realize it was probably just to help her balance at the time, but we held hands on the skating floor and it was so natural! She probably did the same thing with some of my friends that night, but that is besides the point. It led to plenty of Classic dates and now we are getting married.
The thing is, even though I manage Classic Fun Center and spend most of my time there, my experience isn’t a unique one. I was shocked by one person’s request to have his wedding reception at Classic. “My future wife has envisioned her wedding as something completely different than most girls." he said. "She wants something different and non-traditional and [Classic] is her favorite date night/favorite activity to participate in here in the Provo/Orem area."
For the hundredth time, we had another couple rent skates for their engagement photo shoot, all because “we had our first date at Classic.” We recently posted another couple’s story on Instagram:
The truth is, I can’t think of a better first, second, or third date than Classic Skating. Forget the “Netflix and Chill” and Squaw Peak stuff. There is a legitimate way to naturally escape the friend zone and hold hands, and that is roller skating.
So we have a proposal for all of our Classic born lovers… If you or someone you know has had a dating experience or really any experience at Classic that has played a role in creating or improving a relationship, please share it with us! We will choose stories to post on our social media, and if yours gets picked we will give you 10 free skating passes and $10 cash!
You can email your story with a picture to classicfuncenterorem@gmail.com or through our contact page.
